When determining what size screen to put in any room you will want to answer a few questions. As a general guideline, use the rules of proportion to help determine the screen size that will both look and work best in a room. In other words, selecting the largest screen possible is not always the best choice. Here are some things to consider regarding screen size.
How far from the screen will the projector be, and what size image will result? How far from the screen will viewers be? How high is the ceiling in the room you are using? These questions will give you some idea that each room and screen application is different. In order to have the best look for your home theater, you want your screen to fit in with the room, and not over power the space due to its' size. Viewers will want the big screen experience, but will not enjoy sitting so close that the image is too large to take in without turning their heads. The native resolution of the projector, how far it can effectively throw an image (throw ratio), and the lumens or brightness of the projector will also be key indicators in selecting screen size. Be sure to consider every possible outcome before settling on a screen size. The benefits of home theater can be undone by selecting a screen that is not functional, or is too large for the space. |
